The wheeled EX03 is Volvo Construction Equipment‘s first mid-size electrical excavator prototype delivering low noise, zero exhaust emissions and decreased upkeep. The prototype includes a distinctive exterior display offering security messaging for staff, pedestrians and drivers.

This mid-size electrical excavator prototype follows Volvo’s introduction of prototype and production-ready electrical machines within the compact measurement class. Volvo has not introduced a plan to carry the EX03 to market, however is exploring the potential of buyer pilot initiatives.

The prototype on show on the China Worldwide Import Expo (CIIE) 2020 and bauma China 2020 includes a distinctive video display mounted to the rear of the machine. The display provides three configurations:
